August 2012

August - one of my favorite months. And no, not just because of my birthday. It is summer - my favorite season - but usually at a slower pace than July. Slower pace doesn't exactly describe our 2012's August.
East Inlet Stroll
Will and I finished our summer Frisbee seasons. We saw Jack White at Red Rocks. I turned 34. We spent a fun long weekend with TBC (although still homeless in Cincy) in Grand Lake. The Ficociellos swooped in to celebrate Betsy's 40th with a 14er and 4 nights with some great friends, food and booze in Breckenridge.

Butters hung with the activity; played with the 5, 3 and 2 year olds like he knew what he was doing.

Some Lodgeling Children
Aldus can do one nap a day but sometimes has two. The transition has been fairly easy. I think it is because we can do what we feel like is needed each day.

At his 18 month appointment, his stats came in at:
weight - 23lbs 8 oz (20%ile)
height - 32 3/4 inches (65%ile)
head circ (does anyone but the doc care about this?) - 18 1/2 inches (24%ile)

His vocabulary is exploding. It seems that he picks up at least 2 new words a day. He has said a few two word phrases - "milk please". Momma's favorites are 'elbow' and saying his name when asked what it is. He has just discovered a love for Thomas the Train ("Momas") and proudly "choo-choo's". His sharing abilities are less than stellar. He wants all of the toys in his hand whether he is playing with them or not. And if not, it creates a very annoying whine that has Will and me wondering who the kid belongs to.

We feel comfortable with having him go up and down the stairs unsupervised.

Aldus had his first fever. And while it stunk to having him feeling badly, he was a SUPER snuggler. He would hardly let me leave the room without crying and we had three 1 hour snuggle sessions that day.
poor, sick baby
He has a molar on top brining the tooth count up to 8 (4 top, 3 bottom, 1 top molar). His eating picky-ness went away for a couple of weeks (he was picking up strawberries, chicken, watermelon and eating it on his OWN!) but has recently returned. I'm hoping it is a molar thing.

Even with his newly blossomed fuss-attack-BS and his almost constant "no" replies, Aldus continues to be a cheerful, tough and adorable toddler. See for yourselves:
