July 2012

Ahhh summer. We love it here on Kearney. But this one has been one for the record books. I have heard that June and July have been the hottest on record in Denver ever. Normally, I'm a huge heat fan (not to be mistaken with the Miami team). I don't know if it was pregnancy, but I am not any more. We have had the AC on more than it has probably ever been on for the entire time we have lived here.
We have had a blast with the season though. I am having a hard time keeping up with our veggies. I have already made pickles and pesto which is usually an event that is only possible in late August or September. Everything is coming earlier this summer - beets and carrots are almost ready. Chard has been walking out our door to friends since I can not clean/cook it fast enough.

RMNP - Onahu Trail
We spent a week in Grand Lake for the 4th with the Codr, Carey and Romanovsky clans. AKA - Baby Fest 2012. Fun. We have had some good hikes; one (sleepless) night in a tent; Wed and Thurs nights on the Ultimate Frisbee field.

Still digs the backpack
The Bubs is obviously changing quickly. There have been a few 'leg stiffening and mouth wide open' tantrums. He has been waking about 3-4 times per week in the middle of the night with nightmares?! He'll scream for about 2-3 minutes and fall back asleep. He's mastered getting down from the couch by himself and finally yesterday did go down the stairs on his belly. He's still repeating lots of words: bike ride (by rhye), bottle, water, up, up, up and up, hi, hello (with a hand to his ear), mamma, Aldus (Aldah), elbow, more, milk (milt), car, truck, help, doggie (da dah) and others...

Meal time is still not my favorite. Aldus is super picky; sometimes into soft foods that he picks up on his own, but mostly NOT. He won't eat any fruit or veggies unless they are pureed. Seriously?! I have even gone as far as holding him down and putting it in his mouth, but he spits it out. He loves carbs. Who doesn't? I guess we just continue to try foods and try not to get frustrated.

Love and miss all of our out-of-town peeps.

Here are some clips from July:
