I've heard from a variety of folks that it's not "terrible twos", but 3 that is fairly terrible. Just in the past two weeks, I've found that almost 2 1/2 is quite a change. Aldus spent 5 nights (4 of them when Will was out of town!) screaming BLOODY MURDER for 45 minutes to an hour when I would put him down for a nap AND bed at night. Our normally easy to put to bed child was freaking. So much so that I called in a babysitter one night so I could get a break, ha. He was also waking up about 3am sobbing with, what I assume, was bad dreams (Aldus, "I'm scared of the dinosaurs"). This week has proved to be better (after a much appreciated separation from him. He headed to Grammy and Grandpa's for 2 nights, and they seemed to break the cycle).
He is also becoming much more whiney and bully-like (although I have my fingers crossed that it was a result of the bad sleep). There is a lot more pushing, hitting, and screaming "NO" with an absolutely terrible shrieking voice. Sharing is so hard. He and August are BFF, but they make each other ab.so.lut.ely nuts.
I, like a wonderful mother, have documented the cute moments of the past few months though :).
Much love.
